DUTIES 2013

Thank you to all those who have already signed up for duties for the forthcoming year. Hopefully you have found the on-line system convenient to use. Some have not been able to get your preferred dates, this is because I take each request in strict order of receipt and occasionally more than one person volunteers for the same duty.

Can those those who not yet volunteered please take a few minutes to visit the list and put yourself down for a duty (or two). For those who prefer the more traditional methods a list of dates and duties will be in the clubhouse during the Working Party Day on 16th February. Alternatively I am happy to receive notifications by telephone on 01373 823061. If I am not in please leave a message on the answer phone.

From 18th February I will allocate duties to members who have not signed up for any. Also from this date it is the responsibility of individuals to arrange a swap if they are unable attend.

Martin Honor, Duties Officer

2013 at Shearwater Sailing Club.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Work parties at the club. With the help of the many members who came we have the club ready for the year ahead. The Barn Dance and Fitting Out Supper at Rode Village Hall was well attended and good fun. Thank you all for coming and especially to everyone who helped with gifts of food and washing up.

Our First Thrash on Sunday, March 3rd. Saw Fraser and others sailing through the ice to get out into a fine easterly. The Wiltshire v. Somerset friendly race was won by the Somerset team. Well done!

And now, it’s races every Sunday, so do come and join in. We are always keen to encourage new members. If you have children who are already members of West Wiltshire Youth Sailing Association then we are waiving our joining fee for family membership at Shearwater Sailing Club. With this offer, a family membership, a boat licence and a clubhouse key will cost you £139. This gives you unlimited access to the club and 275 days of dawn to dusk sailing from 1st March until 31st November. Members can also use the club sailing boats for £5 per half day. Membership forms are on the website.
