The club has recently held annual away weekends at Roadford Lake in Devon. This 730 acre lake on the edge of Dartmoor belongs to the South West Lakes Trust and provides wide open sailing conditions with on-site camping and facilities. This year's event will take place on June 14th and 15th 2008 and will be combined with the Classic and Vintage Racing Dinghy Association Rally (CVRDA) and with Roadford Lake sailing Club and both old and modern boats are welcome. Those who don't wish to race are free to sail at any time - the lake is large enough for everyone. Roadford Lake is just off the A30 in Devon between Okehampton and Launceston. Just follow the brown signs and continue over the dam and around the lake to the sailing centre. Camping is available by the lake with showers, hook-ups etc at a reasonable price. For non sailors there are walks around the lake and access to stunning countryside. Please book early by contacting Catherine Mulholland Provisional programme: Arrive Friday evening Saturday: briefing at 9:30a.m., first race at 12:00, picnic lunch somewhere on the lake for all, then races again at 2p.m. and 3p.m. Evening barbeque - coals provided, bring your own food. Sunday: 2 races to finish early afternoon. Last year the activities both on and off the water were enjoyed by all. |
